The act of smudging is suggestive of ceremonial rites performed in some Native American and First Nations groups. In some cases the ceremony is for spiritual cleansing or blessing, but the purposes and particulars of the ceremonies, and the substances used, can vary widely between tribes, bands and nations.

Smudge sticks are commonly burned to prevent illness, ward off negative energy, or cleanse a space, person or group. Use smudging as a way to enhance mindfulness, aid in mediation, cleansing or purely for aromatherapy.

Wildcrafted on the west coast, these dried white sage (Salvia apiana) smudge sticks are wrapped in organic hemp twine. Simply light the end of the stick with a lighter or a match, and allow to smolder and fill your space with the resinous, herbaceous, woodsy scent. Relight as desired.

Be careful with fire and never leave the burning stick alone. Burn in a well-ventilated area. Always use with a fire-safe holder or bowl and place on a level, heat resistant surface. Ensure ash and embers are caught safely. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Consult a health care practitioner before use if you are pregnant or suffer from asthma or other respiratory issues. Never leave burning stick unattended.
